To accommodate an expanding and richly hued art collection, additional gallery walls and surfaces in a neutral palette were constructed during this home’s extensive renovation and redesign. The collection includes large format canvases, glass, and sculpture by artists that include Picasso, Rufino Tamayo, John Buck, Tony Berlant, and Ed Ruscha.
New finishes and materials exquisitely capture the home’s clean architectural heritage. Wall finishes are neutral, off - white Venetian plaster. Producing this particular wall finish is quite labor intensive and it is rarely used so abundantly.

To maintain the heritage of this “vintage” Stephen Chase-designed home, long-time Chase collaborators Randy Patton and Cheri Kelley were engaged to plan refinements and various finish and décor improvements. Evidence of original materials can be found in the bar/den area, main guest suite, and again in one of the master baths. Clean lines, simple textures and neutral hues perfectly showcase the dramatic and noteworthy art collection, including works by Kiki Smith, Joey Kirkpatrick, Kara Walker, and author/artist, Nancy Blair.

Disciples of famed architect Ricardo Legorreta, architects Bill Bernstein, Carlos Zubieta and Gerardo Alonso collaborated to create an authentic Legorreta-style home in the desert. A vibrant glassed-in loggia acts as the entry, separating the living and personal wings. The large great room opens to the pool terrace. The master bedroom anchors the western end of the northern wing, featuring a full height picture window that frames a classic wall spout fountain flowing into the spa. Materials include large wood beams, vibrant colored plaster, polished concrete floors and steel gates.
