Shabbat Dinner for Unites Community

For the second year, Jewish Family Service of the Desert, with the support of a grant from Jewish Federation, is organizing High Holiday services for the Desert Hot Springs Jewish Community. In advance of those celebrations, a free Shabbat dinner for Desert Hot Springs residents is planned for Friday, September 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mission Lakes Country Club. Rabbi Faith Tessler and the JFS High Holiday Rabbinic Intern Meredith Cahn will attend.

“We hope this Shabbat dinner will bring more Jewish residents of this part of the desert into this growing community,” said Linda Zweig, JFS coordinator of volunteer services. “We estimate 400 under-served Jewish residents live up here.”

JFS will also offer Rosh HaShanah, Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur services to the residents of Desert Hot Springs within their own city for a nominal donation.

For further information about JFS, the Desert Hot Springs Jewish community outreach program or the High Holiday services in Desert Hot Springs, please call Linda Zweig at 760-325-4088.
