Tour four unique homes “Behind the Gates of Old Palm Springs”

(PALM SPRINGS, CA) – The 11th annual “House and Garden Walk,” is set for March 15. Four spectacular homes have been selected for this year’s self-guided tour.

This year’s theme “Behind the Gates of Old Palm Springs” evokes the spirit of classic Palm Springs with the glory and splendor of old Hollywood.

Attendees will see three gorgeous homes of yesteryear that are historically important to the Palm Springs area, along with one new modern creation by a living architect that’s sure to become a classic in years to come.

“One thing’s for sure, Palm Springs is an architectural gem of the West and we’re so fortunate to have these four homes to showcase in this year’s Jewish Family Service House and Garden Walk,” said Joyce Wolff and Deanna Pearl event-co chairs.

Sand Acre - This gorgeous estate is one of the “grande dames” of the Movie Colony neighborhood. Marilyn Monroe was rumored to have been a frequent guest here.

Casa Caja - This true architectural gem is the creation of its owners, architects, Doug Hudson and Erich Burkhart. This home has been featured in Metropolitan Home Magazine.

Casa de Suenos - This lovely old Spanish was built in 1938 and served as the Wurlitzer family estate. The present owners have maintained the property in its original condition, including the bathrooms and kitchen.

Three Tall Palms - This post and beam modern was designed by famed architect, Donald Wexler, in 1963 for Dinah Shore. Wexler is also the architect for the Palm Springs Airport, Palm Springs City Hall, the Spa Hotel and numerous well-known commercial and residential buildings in the area.

Three of the homes on this year’s tour have been designated historical sites by the Palm Springs Preservation Society.

Docents at each home provide information and assistance during the tour, which runs from noon to 4:30 p.m. A limited number of general admission tickets go on sale January 15, at $75 each, for this historically sold-out event.
