For more than 20 years, Jewish Family Service of the Palm Springs/Desert Area has provided important social services to the people of the Coachella Valley regardless of religious affiliation.
We offer many programs that can improve the quality of your life. You may reach out to one of our varied programs offered for seniors. Or get involved with a support group. Or cope through a tough time with the help of one of our therapists.

Counseling
Our licensed clinical social workers and marriage/family therapists provide counseling to individuals, couples or families. JFS counselors can help you learn coping, problem-solving and life skills. [more information]
Family Life Education
Our caseworkers and therapists help families learn how to live, love and work together in healthier ways. Programs include family communications, parenting skills training, caring for aging parents, stress management and journal writing. [more information]
Hanukkah Tzedakkah Project
Last Hanukkah Jewish Family Service began a new holiday tradition - volunteers gave gifts to children and seniors in need. The program was so successful, JFS is already preparing for the upcoming holiday season. In the spirit of giving, JFS also gives gifts to recommended children and seniors of all faiths. Homeless Services
JFS aids homeless families and individuals get back on their feet by helping them find work, a home and hope for their futures.
Information/Referral
If we don’t offer a service you need, we can refer you to the appropriate resource, such as a doctor, a counselor or another agency.
Kids First
A school based counseling program developed by Jewish Family Service. The program sends therapists into schools several hours a week to counsel students dealing with situations like peer pressure, bullying, poor social skills, violence, and academic performance. [more information]
Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) - Bilingual
A no-cost Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for teens with drug and alcohol problems and addictions. Youths ages 12-18 meet three afternoons a week for twelve weeks of intensive therapy. [more information]
Solutions for Seniors
Elderly men and women sometimes reach a point where they need help taking care of themselves. It may be due to illness, infirmities or limited income. Our trained staff of case managers assess what needs to be done, put an action plan into place, and coordinate all necessary services, such as hot meals, transportation to doctors' offices, and help with paying bills. Summer Camp Scholarships
Jewish Family Service helps area children attend various residential summer camps located throughout California. The Sam and Lottie Rosenthal Fund provides a merit based scholarship and a need based scholarship. [more information]
Volunteer Outreach
Whether it’s taking Shabbat and holiday celebrations to assisted living facilities and nursing homes, or being a friendly visitor to a frail, lonely person who lives alone, our helpful volunteers go where help is needed. We can always use more volunteers.
