Charitable gift annuities benefit donors and JFS
While the name may sound complicated, this type of giving is an easy way to help the agency and your community...
A charitable gift annuity is a planned-giving approach that lets you make a gift, increase annual income and reduce taxes. Essentially, the donor exchanges a gift of cash or securities worth at least $10,000 in return for a fixed income.
If you make such a gift to JFS, The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles will manage the money. The fund administrator guarantees to make annuity payments to you, the donor. A recommended payout rate for such annuities is established by a national regulatory agency and is based on the age of the donors. A significant portion of the payout is tax-free. Jewish Family Service is named as the beneficiary.
This type of giving includes other options. If you don’t want or need the annual income, you can choose an immediate income-tax deduction. The annuity payments also can be deferred, creating an investment similar to a retirement program.
